Bios wines are produced by the organic winery Scorziello Ianniello in the heart of Cilento. The Scorziello company is one of the first companies that started the production of organic wines in Cilento. It was founded in 1979 by Marshal Scorziello Giuseppe with vineyards in Roccadaspide. Subsequently, after the death of the founder in 2003, his daughter Maria Rosaria and son-in-law Mario Ianniello continued the business by extending the vineyard area on the land owned in Pollica. Originally the company practiced viticulture exclusively; in 1996 with the conviction of having a quality product and with the recognition of the Castel San Lorenzo DOC wines, the company transformed itself into a wine producer, building its own winery in the middle of the vineyards on two l levels plus cover intended for vinegar
with
a total surface development of approximately 500sqm. The grapes are directly transformed into wine and are
only those of own production: -Barbera, Malvasia and Trebbiano on the lands in Roccadaspide destined for the
DOP Castel San Lorenzo wines; - Aglianico and Fiano on the lands of Pollica registered with the DOP Cilento, but marketed IGP Paestum because they are vinified in Roccadaspide, outside the Cilento DOP area.
In 1998 the company converted its nature into 100% organic cultivation and production. The wines produced and marketed under the Bios brand are certified organic by ICEA. The cellar is equipped with modern machinery to better enhance the quality of the grapes: pneumatic press and cold chain. Storage and aging takes place both in stainless steel wine vessels and in small oak barrels. The pomace is then conferred for distillation and obtaining the
'Grappa del Cilento '. The future plans and development of the company are entrusted to the young pharmacist Venere Ianniello, grandson of the founder Giuseppe, with the implementation of a plant intended for the extraction of RESVERATROL: molecule used in supplements as an antioxidant - basic element of the MEDITERRANEAN DIET.
